Mother’s Day Gift Guide: The Vintage Pearl Jewelry ~ $100 Gift Card Giveaway *CLOSED
Shhh. Don’t tell… I got myself a Mother’s Day gift early!
This Mother’s Day I’ll be wearing some lovely handstamped and crafted silver jewelry from The Vintage Pearl.

These simple and unique handcrafted pieces are the perfectly thoughtful gift to give any mom. Customize bracelets, charms, rings with initials, letters, or a special thought. Add pearls and birthstones to personalize even further!
Since I won a gift certificate last year, I got myself a square initials on a chain necklace with a letter for my son (I’ll add another charm once our second son is born and we figure out what to name him!).
And I updated my earring selection with antique teardrop silver earrings (they have a great textured look!) and slender silver and mother-of-pearl earrings!

Each piece at The Vintage Pearl is handcrafted from start to finish. Even the stamping is individually done by hand, not machine, so every piece has a slightly different look. Choose from designs ranging from simple to unique to vintage. Then select from several font choices (their online store will recommend the best look for the style you’re purchasing, but you can still pick your own).
Not only do they carry all the customizeable pieces for women, The Vintage Pearl also has a selection for men (love the cufflinks!) and keepsake items like silver baby spoons and other gifts!

I’ve always been a fan of silver jewelry, and of handmade jewelry, so The Vintage Pearl is the perfect marraige of the two! The quality of craftsmanship is good. The pieces are delicately made and just as pretty as their photographs on online! And the prices were very reasonable, in my opinion.
BUY IT: You’ll find a nice range of designs at The Vintage Pearl - but if you’re ordering for Mother’s Day, you’ll need to decide fast, because they need your order by April 24th to get it shipped to you on time!
WIN IT: One lucky reader will receive a $100 Gift Certificate to The Vintage Pearl – you will have SO much fun shopping! Enter in the Rafflecopter form below!

Cloth Diaper Friday :: Red Barn Cloth Diapers ~ Giveaway *CLOSED*
It’s blast from the past day … remember Nifty Nappy Diapers? I featured them in my wool event last year! Then Vilate had to close up shop because of regulatory laws that make creating children’s products costly and difficult (I’m not really clear on all that legal stuff!).

I know so many of us were sad to see those adorable diapers go… but, good news! The have returned! In the form of Red Barn Cloth Diapers a cottage licensee of Nifty Nappy™ diapers! At the Red Barn, Jen, a “Nifty Nappy Needlewoman” learned to sew cloth diapers from Vilate herself. I can vouch from owning a Nifty Nappy diaper before and after this transition, I do not see any differences in quality!
I received the Red Barn Nifty Nappy Fitted in a cute earthy Ooga Booga print! This diaper is a one-size listed to fit 7-35 lb babies. My son is 27 lbs in this photo, so you can see how well they still are fitting him on the upper end of the weight scale. I do wish the back came up about another half inch – I don’t know if my son just has a long hip section, but he seems to get that “plumber’s crack” look a lot! Regardless, the diaper is trim, fits well, and contains well, so it’s minor!

The body has a cotton knit outer, then an organic hemp fleece sandwich layer, finally, a soft micro fleece inner layer. It comes with a fold-in-half lay-in insert made from organic hemp fleece on one side, and organic bamboo velour on the other. Because it’s two kinds of fabric, when you wash it, the hemp does shrink but the velour doesn’t, but this does not affect how the insert works – I love the combo of two very absorbant fabrics in one insert!
The best feature on this diaper, for me with a wee one coming along, is the overlapping snap front – this is what makes it able to fit those small babies, because you can really customize a small fit. And the snaps are through all the layers so they don’t pull through. Here, my son is too big to need the overlap but you can see the snaps:

This fitted is made to be worn with a cover, as it is not waterproof. A wool soaker or longie would go great with these fitteds! Just too bad the SUPER cute fabrics have to be covered then! Oh and I should mention the variety of fabric choices is great for you mamas who like to have an uber-cute stash!
Who wants to get their hands on the new Red Barn Nifty Nappy diapers!? The Red Barn Nifty Nappy I have retails for $23.50 as does the AI2 diaper. There’s also a Swim Diaper, Bitty Buns, Heavy Doody diaper, and for covers, the Weensie Woolies and Woolie Wraps! You can find them in the online store, or at select retailers!

Kids Blanks by Zoey Craft-worthy Clothing! ~ Giveaway
This year’s goal is to be more crafty, more homemade… I want my kids to remember me MAKING things for them rather than BUYING stuff all the time.
I’ve always loved appliqued clothing, because you can personalize an outfit or item. This month I’ve been playing around with KidsBlanks clothing items, which are perfect for applique and other clothing crafts!
I was sent a selection of their baby items (perfect for the little one coming!) – beanie hats, bibs, a baby gown, onesie and t-shirt. I loved the assortment of colors I received! Also, I found the quality of these cotton items was great, all the seams were nicely turned and finished. They did shrink up in the wash due to being 100% cotton, but held their shapes well.
The first project I did was a bib for my son’s 2nd birthday party. It’s going to be a train theme, so I designed a train on the computer, cut out applique pieces, and ironed/sewed them on. I sometimes have trouble with applique stitching, but I was impressed with the material of the KidsBlanks bib – it didn’t bunch, stretch or move while I sewed, which made this project come together easily!
I haven’t finished my other projects with my KidsBlanks items yet – planning and prep take me FOREVER! I am thinking about creating a button design on the hats, a pumpkin design on the brown onesie, and something girly on the green t-shirt…just in case I have a girl!
The gown… wide open for ideas! Please share yours with me!
KidsBlanks by Zoey is a wholesale baby and toddler clothing company, selling “blank” baby clothes (some with animal prints and polka dots). These are great for embroidery, applique, heat transfer, and other fabric crafts! Mostly they carry preemie, newborn, infant and toddler items but also have some men’s and women’s t-shirts as well as maternity blanks.
Some fun KidsBlanks by Zoey items include dance tutus, legwarmers, bibs, beanie hats, blankets, pajamas and just about every kind of baby clothing! I noticed there were many girlie items available!
Do you craft or do fabric projects? What’s been your best project to date?
BUY IT: Stock up your sewing closet with KidsBlanks by Zoey (Christmas is coming and you know how long these projects can take!) Keep in touch via their Facebook Fan Club.
WIN IT: One lucky winner will receive $25 worth of product from KidsBlanks.com. (Since they are a wholesaler, this is actually $50 retail value). NOTE: The winner can pick product marked LG or CS on the website.

14 Days ‘Til Christmas! A Bloggy Advent Calendar
I am stepping into new waters here – until now, “crafts” with my son have consisted mainly of coloring, stickers, and an occassional hand-print stamp! Today we’re going to try to finger paint a tree with handprints… don’t laugh… we’ll see how it goes! I will post pictures later!
However, THIS mama is going to be crafting it up for her little boy this Christmas… I am making him a crayon roll for his coloring time, and a car roll for taking his small vehicles traveling with us! I am really going to work on developing our crafty side this coming year (mine, and his!), and I figured Christmas crafts are a great place to start!
What are your suggestions for EASY crafts for the 2 year old age group!?
WIN IT: One reader will win a MINI Crayon Roll (holds 6 crayons) from my Etsy shop Caboose Cloth. Makes a great stocking stuffer! Choose either Dinosaur print or Hello Kitty! (Item pictured in sidebar is the full size, not the mini).
TO ENTER: Leave a topic-related comment on this post to enter! Generic comments like “Enter me” or “I want to win!” do not qualify. Giveaway ends 11:59 on Tuesday, December 13, 2011. Winner is selected via And The Winner Is and emailed directly; winner must reply within 48 hours of email notification. Good luck! Open US only.
