ErgoBaby Teething Pads Review

109 Flares 109 Flares ×

I started babywearing with ErgoBaby‘s soft structured carrier when our first son was about one year old and twenty-plus pounds.

So I didn’t realize how babywearing a newborn / infant would be different. For one, I used the newborn insert for about four months to boost and secure our teeny babe in the carrier.

Now that he’s older and riding without the insert, we are presented with a new issue. Sucking. Chewing. Gnawing… Teething!

Our baby is a world-class drooler. Everything goes in his mouth. Everything. And he isn’t shy about letting big gobs of drool pour all over you!

If you’re shocked at my surprise, it’s because our first son rarely if ever drooled or put things in his mouth! Honest. I didn’t even put bibs on him. Ever!

Thankfully, ErgoBaby makes Teething Pads for their carriers to prevent babies from sucking on the carrier itself (which could damage the carrier, I would imagine!).

The Teething Pads come in regular teething pads or organic teething pads. Both are 100% cotton (except snaps) and come as a set of two (well, I guess that might be obvious! LOL). The pads have three snaps to snug them around each shoulder strap right where baby is likely to teeth on them. Although, my baby somehow likes to crane his head around and suck in that corner where the straps join the carrier – maybe Ergobaby will develop a “full-shield” for babies like mine!:)

Now our baby can explore as babies do, but the ErgoBaby carrier stays dry and protected! Throw your Teething Pads in the laundry for a fresh clean teething surface each time!

Teething pads are a necessity when you are babywearing an infant, and the Ergobaby Teething pads could not be easier to use!

Do you use sucking / teething pads on your baby carrier?

Lisa FoxMarch 15, 2013 - 6:42 pm

Yes, I babywear. Moby or ringsling in the beginning. Now, mostly my Beco Gemini (and sometime my RS). I haven’t use any teething pads, but my LO definitely likes to chew on the straps. If these fit the Beco straps, I’ll use them. Otherwise, my friend has an Ergo and her baby is currently teething, so she could probably use them.

LianneMarch 15, 2013 - 5:45 pm

I intend to babywear as soon as LO arrives! :) Hubby is excited to do the same!

deniseMarch 15, 2013 - 4:47 pm

have the ergo and love it but need the teething pads!

Beth RMarch 15, 2013 - 3:44 pm

Carol LMarch 15, 2013 - 1:53 pm

My grandson will be 4 weeks old. I’d love to give this to my daughter. What a wonderful item. They never had anything like this when my kids were babies. Thanks for the opportunity.

My first baby is due this week! My brother and his fiance are getting me an ergo baby carrier so i’m very excited! and this would be a perfect addition

Beth AnnMarch 15, 2013 - 12:38 pm

It makes sense that this is a thing. My little girl chomps down on the sides of the carrier alllll day. Then there are little (which are really actually HUGE) slobber stains.

I could definitely use this. Haha

Hannah EzingaMarch 15, 2013 - 12:14 pm

I babywear and would love some teething pads!

Betty J.March 15, 2013 - 9:23 am

We have a moby, lenny lamb woven, and an Ergo. DS always slobbers up my straps on the Ergo…we could use some teething pads. LoL!

Sara vandemarkMarch 14, 2013 - 8:51 am

I wear the ergo almost daily with my 8 month old. He’s cutting teeth like crazy right now and sucks and gnaws on it the while time he’s in there! These would be a lifesaver!!

JamieMarch 14, 2013 - 1:05 am

I have an ergo and a moby, but I haven’t been brave enough to try them yet. I haven’t tried teething pad either.

Christina CMarch 13, 2013 - 6:09 pm

I babywear with my Ergo a lot, even more so with Baby #2, since I have yet to buy a double stroller. I have never tried teething pads but always wanted to!!

Sarah BeasleyMarch 13, 2013 - 5:45 pm

Would love to get these pads for my baby boy!

Tiffany EllisMarch 13, 2013 - 12:42 pm

Amanda AlvaradoMarch 13, 2013 - 11:36 am

I am still babywearing with a 5 year old, although it’s only when she wants! LOL We never had sucking pads but I’d love to try with our next (we are still trying!)

Devon FMarch 13, 2013 - 10:16 am

I didn’t have teething pads for my first baby and always had slobbers everywhere! So needing them for #2!

Elaine N.March 13, 2013 - 12:34 am

Love baby wearing. And my 5-month old is starting to drool/teethe like crazy so would absolutely use the sucking pads!

JennMarch 12, 2013 - 9:36 pm

I wear my son often in our Ergo and he does teeth on the straps. So far I just wash it but covers would be nice!

KristinMarch 12, 2013 - 9:34 pm

Just started using the Ergo and I LOVE it! I’m rather tall, and have quickly-growing babies, and other carriers were just…awkward. He’s not teething yet, but it is a brilliant idea! I do also like the idea of maybe something that goes down around the back, maybe padded so the top of the carrier doesn’t dig into his little head if he’s looking around.

Melissa H.March 12, 2013 - 9:24 pm

I enjoy babywearing! I’m planning on getting an Ergo in the next couple of weeks, and I know I need the teething pads!

RachelMarch 12, 2013 - 9:03 pm

My 9 month old baby girl is teething like crazy and chewing like a mad woman. We need these!!!! Love our Ergo btw.

Amanda W.March 12, 2013 - 8:24 pm

We love our Ergo and would love to try a pair of Ergo teething pads.

JulieMarch 12, 2013 - 8:01 pm

I baby-wear over pushing a stroller any day! I love my Ergo. My little guy likes to suck, chew and nom on the carrier. Even if he’s not in it, if it’s in reach, it’s going in his mouth. These will definitely help!

I love my Ergo and baby wear over pushing a stroller any day. My little guy likes to suck, chew and nom on the carrier. Even when he’s not in it, if he can reach it, it’s going in his mouth. These will certainly help when he’s cruising with mommy!

Rachel BMarch 12, 2013 - 7:55 pm

I would love another pair of these. I have 1.5 pairs at the moment. My oldest chewed on everything and I accidentally left one on a Target shopping cart handle.

Liz B.March 12, 2013 - 7:13 pm

I have an ergobaby (and LOVE it), but I’d never seen the teething pads before. It’s genius and I totally need these for my 11 month old son!

JessicaMarch 12, 2013 - 7:07 pm

My two-month old is already drooling all over everything and he sticks his fist in his mouth whenever he can! I’m sure if he could reach those straps by now, he’d be gnawing on them already! :)

EllyMarch 12, 2013 - 6:43 pm

I use a ring sling and my ergo. I tried to make teething pads, but would LOVE some organic pairs!

KatjaMarch 12, 2013 - 6:42 pm

I haven’t tried the teething pads but I am really starting to need them because my little one chews on everything now.

CarolynMarch 12, 2013 - 6:41 pm

My girl leaves CRAZY drool on her Ergo. Never knew these existed!

DanaMarch 12, 2013 - 6:39 pm

I just got an ergo thanks to a great friend. My little guy and I are loving it! I would love this addition for when he starts teething in a few months!

ginaMarch 12, 2013 - 6:36 pm

I babywear with the Ergo and I didn’t know they made teething pads. My LO chews on the sides all the time and I just had to wash the whole thing constantly. I would love to win these teething pads!

Brittany WilliamsMarch 12, 2013 - 6:34 pm

We have an ERGO and LOVE IT. I have tried other carriers and nothing compares. I have carried both my 2 year old and my 9mo old in it from the time they were born – I call it the magic carrier because it always puts them right to sleep. :)

CarolMarch 12, 2013 - 6:32 pm

Perfect timing! My 4 month old is starting to gnaw on our ergo straps. Was just thinking that it’s time to get those “sucker” things. Hope I win! Thanks for the chance.

phyloydMarch 12, 2013 - 6:24 pm

Babies sure do want to chew.

ElisiaMarch 12, 2013 - 6:23 pm

i love babywearing and hate the nasty spit up all over the carrier, would love a pair of these!

courtneycourtneyMarch 12, 2013 - 6:19 pm

Mel HMarch 12, 2013 - 6:15 pm

We use the Ergo everywhere we go, I haven’t gotten teething pads yet but we sure need them!

Molly RMarch 12, 2013 - 6:12 pm

My baby constantly sucks and chews on the straps of our carrier (and pretty much everything else she can get in her mouth). We could really use some teething pads :)

Caitlin ChapmanMarch 12, 2013 - 6:10 pm

I LOOOOOOVE babywearing. I learned early that babies should be worn (from my mama carrying us kids) And now that I have my own family, it’s the way we do things around here too!

StephanieMarch 12, 2013 - 5:58 pm

I do have an Ergobaby that my LO and I just love. She will even pick it up and carry it to me when she wants to be in it. She is 10 months old and been doing this for almost 2 months now. As of the last few weeks she has been chewing on the sides, and way more drool than she has ever had before. I would love to try the teething pads!

Suz AMarch 12, 2013 - 5:56 pm

I’m 36 weeks pregnant and looking forward to baby wearing for the first time.

alice bMarch 12, 2013 - 5:56 pm

Baby Penelope (6 months) loves the Ergo, I LOVE the Ergo but she will be teething soon and I can only imagine what she is going to do to the straps… It would be awesome to have those!

Andrea MMarch 12, 2013 - 5:53 pm

I’ve worn both of my babies and plan to wear #3 coming soon! Only one drooler/biter thus far and I just dealt with the wet, gross straps. This would be great!

Olivia RubinMarch 12, 2013 - 4:56 pm

This is for my sister. It will be our families first baby. I am trying to be the bestest aunt and win some great giveaways such as this.

Not sure if she will wear her baby or not.

I babywear and use teething pads. It keeps you from having to wash your carrier constantly (and reduce it’s lifespan).

fancygrlnancy (Nancy Partin)March 12, 2013 - 1:11 pm

I babywear and I have 2 Ergo carriers for my baby boy. He has been trying to chew on my straps lately and I have been thinking I need these. I have not tried them yet, but I”d love to.

Anna HMarch 12, 2013 - 9:24 am

I love baby wearing! I have never had true teething pads, but I have pinned cloth wipes to my ergo as makeshift teething pads. :)

Debbie ClauerMarch 12, 2013 - 9:07 am

Never heard of these before.

Ginger G.March 12, 2013 - 9:07 am

I plan on babywearing! And don’t have any teething pads yet!

Anitha S RaghavanMarch 12, 2013 - 9:06 am

No i have not tried teething pads! My baby is 7 months old i badly need it!

Jessica LMarch 12, 2013 - 9:02 am

I have worn both of my babies, now 3 and 18 months (sometimes still do with my 18 month old). I have used a moby wrap and an infantino mei tei style carrier and slobbering on the straps has often been a problem! I will definitely be getting an Ergo for baby #3 so these would really come in handy!

yes I babywear!! I own 4 Ergos…. two are very well loved and worn out…litterally. I had a pair of suck pads but lost them when baby became toddler. l now have a new baby and need more pads.

Grace F.March 12, 2013 - 8:38 am

We just bought the Ergo Performance (used to use the the Moby exclusively) and I’m finding the straps covered in baby spit constantly because he just sits with the strap in his mouth. I was going to google this “problem” and see if this would cause damage to my Ergo, but I found this post instead! Teething pads for the Ergo? Incredible!

Trisha W.March 12, 2013 - 8:37 am

I haven’t tried the teething pads but I have used an Ergo.

P.S. Your Tweet was a little too long so I shortened it to this https://twitter.com/1Mommabear/status/311470635136188416.
