Cloth Diaper Friday :: Bummis BeautifulBASIC ~ Giveaway *CLOSED*

123 Flares 123 Flares ×

If you really want to cloth diaper your newborn from Day 1, the Bummis BeautifulBASIC kit is a fantastic option – get several of them!

For those who might be new to cloth diapering, this is a 2-piece (or, All-in-2, or AI2) diapering system. You just fold the prefold into thirds to make a soaker pad, lay it in the waterproof wrap and voila! Diaper! No pins required! When baby wets the prefold, replace it with a fresh one, using the same wrap (unless your baby does what MINE did last night – which required a FULL bath in the sink afterwards! LOL!).  I do recommend the diaper liners with this system for a “stay-dry” effect!

In one box, you get 3 Organic Cotton Prefold Inserts and 1 Super Whisper waterproof wrap. At $20.95 per kit (at my sponsor SweetBottoms Baby!), that’s three diaper changes for about $7/each! A great price!

Bummis is definitely in my top choices for diapering products. Recall my review of their Super Whisper Wrap last year? Their materials and construction are top-quality. The BeautifulBASIC kit is versatile – prefolds can be used as inserts, boosters, burp cloths, changing pads – I have done “all of the above”! Covers fit over just about any insert, fitted, prefold out there!

My favorite feature of this kit is the cover – I have found Bummis covers to be the most “full coverage” of ones I’ve tried. The Super Whisper Wrap included fits well over prefolds and inserts, and over the bulkier fitteds I have on hand! Again, very versatile! Plus, I like how the PUL is sandwiched between two pieces of fabric so no laminate ever touches baby’s skin! Heavy-duty, but comfy! Designed a bit bigger for those “chunky monkeys,” it definitely fits my baby well!

I also was sent the Bummis Super Brite Cover to review. With leg gussets for extra protection, and just 1 layer of PUL, it’s a lighter weight cover but offers generous coverage and leak protection. I love this cover too! It also is great for newborns because it’s a bit trimmer than the Super Whisper Wrap.

All Bummis covers are “sized” meaning, my baby will eventually grow out of them! Boo Hoo! But they are so fantastic, I will continue to have Bummis in my stash at all points!

I would definitely recommend Bummis as a gift idea for new moms, a stash starter, a “refresh your stash” kit … Bummis makes great products – and all right here in North America (Canada)!

I was going to mention the same thing as T Rex Mom. Bummis traditionally does not suggest diapers get tucked inside the flap. The flap is there to prevent wicking from the stitching used to adhere the velcro strip.

I have such the soft spot for these diapers. They were one of my earliest introductions to cloth diapering. A follower of my blog sent me her covers and then I ordered some prefolds. As soon as my tiny daughter was big enough, about 5 weeks old, I had her in these. They were a bit big in the crouch area but they did a pretty good job.

I did want to ask, though. Back then, the instructions said not to put the prefold under the flaps but to lay over the flaps. Has this recently changed? I used them both ways and never saw much of a difference but they said it preventing leaks from coming over the top.

Anyways, love these. I always thought the tiny ones would be great newborn diapers, too. And the Bummis liners work great, too.

I’ve tried a super brite cover before and liked it so I’d love to try this whole set, with prefolds, as well! :) Thanks for the giveaway, Julie!
