This event is brought you by our exclusive event sponsor: A Mother’s Boutique!
If you are concerned about avoiding toxins for your children, (I know I am!), you’ve probably already modified your lifestyle to eat more organic foods. Maybe you’re cloth diapering to avoid chemicals in disposable diapers.
But have you considered organic bedding? Consider babies spend 10-14 hours on a mattress – that’s a long time laying on materials that could have toxic side-effects!
Most conventional mattresses contain questionable chemicals like vinyl/PVC and polyurethane foam… and labels like “eco” and “green” can be misleading. So you have to check out the materials used in your bedding. Since chemical exposure is linked to the current increase in childhood disorders, I’ve been trying to make our home and lifestyle even “cleaner” than before.
I was happy to discover Naturepedic – bedding products for baby, kids and adults, designed to be safe and eliminate potentially harmful chemicals.

Naturepedic sent their organic changing table pad and cover for review. I can’t tell you enough how impressed I am with the quality. It’s a sturdy, heavy-duty changing pad (and cover) that will last us years to come.
I noted this contoured changing pad was large and supportive enough for our toddler who is over thirty pounds. Yet soft and with high sides that makes me feel good about putting our newborn on it to change him.
Here’s a few features that are also impressive:
Firm support from the Air-Core technology (a non-toxic layer of food-grade polyethylene), means my baby is not going to squish down into a soft layer, or roll off because of floppy structure.
Non-toxic design means no vinyl or PVC, latex or wool. I was suprised at the last two, but apparently these are common allergens! Naturepedic even has GREENGUARD “Select” Certification, along with many other certifications. They really go all out to ensure that only the best materials go into their products.
Waterproof organic cotton – the natural, chemical-free fabric has a clear 100% polyethylene coating that is non-allergenic. I tell you this coating is thick, reassuring me moisture will not get into the cotton fabric and start breeding mold or anything! The changing pad’s smooth surface is easy to clean. The cover is machine wash/dry, and gives a soft layer over the pad.
Everything about the Naturepedic brand resonates with me - from the founder’s desire to find the perfect mattress for his grandson sparking the entire business, to the fine quality of the items I was sent. Add to that, Naturepedic products are made in the United States, with primarily domestic suppliers, so you don’t have to worry about mystery materials from overseas!
I plan to purchase more bedding options from Naturepedic as our family grows, and I recommend them highly to you!
