Father’s Day Gift Guide: kokopax City Carrier Review & Sun Hat Giveaway *CLOSED*

23 Flares 23 Flares ×

Dads do the heavy lifting – at least in my house! So I think it’s fitting to suggest that for Father’s Day, a great gift idea for dads of infants/toddlers is a baby carrier! Especially when it’s made by one of my favorite brands… remember my awesome kokopax diaper bag? (STILL my main diaper bag over a year later). Well, kokopax also makes a range of baby carriers great to give new dads!

The kokopax City Carrier is a lightweight (~3 lbs) frame carrier that fits babies 6 months up to 2 years old, or 35 pounds. It’s a great frame for everyday life, whether you want to carry your baby doing household chores, at the store, or even a short walk.

We took our son to the mall to test out the frame. Technically, we weren’t sure about putting him in the carrier because he is over 2 years, but since he’s on the shorter side and still well under 35 pounds, we figured it would be okay. He definitely filled out the carrier although it wasn’t too tight; but still we’ll be saving this carrier for the new baby coming in July after this! I liked the 5-point harness for securing baby into the carrier, since they are so high up!

The City Carrier is simply designed and easy to pop in the car, compact enough to tuck behind a seat (or in an airline overhead bin). There’s one small pocket in the back so you could stash a diaper and wipes, or a small snack, but not too much! Inside the carrier is a little toy ring, which I thought was a great accessory!

My husband said the frame was comfortable overall with padded waist support that adjusted, and padded shoulder straps (I didn’t feel comfortable trying it, being 7 months pregnant!). However, he did wish there was a cross-chest strap as the shoulder straps had a tendency to pull to the outside slightly as he walked.

Our son loved riding in the City Carrier, with a birds’ eye view of the world as we toured the mall. We’re excited to try it out on our new little guy when he’s old enough!

We haven’t used a carrier, but it looks like a fun ride!

Lisa LJune 12, 2012 - 1:10 pm

Looks like a super carrier…my daughter loves to be carried a lot!

My baby’s not due until the fall, but I plan on baby carrying. It’s so much easier when you live in the city to carry than to try to push a stroller on busy sidewalks.

I love to carry, but now that our son is a little older we don’t do it often. I think he’d really like being up higher like this! It’s like riding on daddy’s shoulders :)

I don’t have a baby, but if I did I would baby wear/carry everywhere!!! If I win I plan on giving this hat to my friend who is pregnant.

I baby wear my baby everywhere I go. I love feeling him close to my heart and the feeling of being able to keep him safe.

Our Kelty got a lot of use when we were hiking and even shopping – neither my DH nor I are fond of strollers. I have to say it was worth every penny.

I am crazy about baby wearing!

DAMIAN JARREAUJune 11, 2012 - 4:34 am

I would use it when we go camping and hiking

I don’t babywear too often. However, I recently borrowed an Ergo carrier and carried my 20 month old easily and comfortably on a hike in the Arches National Park. I don’t think I could get her into it on my back without help though.

I babywear everytime I leave the house. My husband loves the idea of it, but refuses to wear my Mobywrap. lol.

We baby wear all the time. My husband tends to carry more as they get older and I tend to carry when they are smaller

This would be perfect for when we go hiking. The front carrier we have makes it kind of difficult!

My son and daughter-in-law are expecting a new baby (maybe 2). My son wants one of these carriers. He loves to hike and would use this while hiking to carry the baby (not long trek hiking).

DanielleJune 8, 2012 - 8:19 am

We babywear all of the time…our favorite place to do it is at the farmer’s market…our son just loves to look at all of the colors of the fruits and veggies :)

been a long time since I’ve been hiking, my son & husband love to hike

I DID baby wear. My son is now old enough to not want to be worn, but I co-slept, baby wore, and nursed until I dried up!

I just adore wearing my boys (still wearing 2.5-year-old Eli) and this is a great option for longer stretches! I love my Boba carrier but the metal frame sounds great for hiking and being outdoors for a long time! :) I just LOVE the pattern, too!

We have a state park near our house, so we carry there and love having it. With our first son we lived in Arkansas surrounded by nature and used a jogging stroller for some reason that was awful!
Thanks for the giveaway

I wear my youngest, with my oldest I did not. I LOVE it, it makes life so much easier and allows me to spend more time with BOTH of my girls. We use the Boba soft structured carrier and love it!

I love to wear my babies and so does my husband, this looks like his type of carrier. I have really felt like I have missed out of carrying my 14 month old since I got pregnant when she was 7 months old I really haven’t been able to do a lot of baby wearing with her but hubby carries her in a backpack style carrier a lot.

Hannah AveryJune 4, 2012 - 3:50 pm

I would use it for my husband to carry our child in while hiking.

I baby/toddler wear while shopping or simply out of the house. I think my husband would love a carrier like this, seems more up his alley than my SSCs and wraps!

Colleen MaurinaJune 4, 2012 - 2:34 pm

I think baby wearing is wonderful! It makes the baby feel safe and secure while leaving your hands free to do all your tasks.

Anne PerryJune 4, 2012 - 12:17 pm

I babywear/toddler wear everywhere!!! Currntly 20 weeks pregnant & still wearing him!!
