Easy Toddler Crafts from Orb Factory ~ Giveaway

50 Flares 50 Flares ×

Another great gift idea for toddlers is to get them a craft kit. Parents will thank you on that rainy day when they just need to whip out a fast activity so they can have some peace and quiet while they make dinner or get some chores done!

Orb Factory sticky mosaics kits come in a range of skill levels and themes – from princesses and Fancy Nancy (which I LOVE!), to vehicles and pets! Curiosity Kits for older children let kids make things like jewelry and pretend-play props!

We received the My First Sticky Mosaics Vehicles kit for our son’s birthday bash, and we’ve been having fun creating the mosaic pictures included. Five different images, and hundreds of foam stickies!! It’s for ages 3+, but as long as I help him out, my son has fun!

We have been looking for activities to reinforce color recognition, and these mosaic crafts have been perfect. He also loves them because he’s good with shapes, so he gets a lot of kudos for recognizing all the shapes! His little fingers DO have some trouble with the smaller sticky pieces, but that’s where my help comes in! Here we are creating the train mosaic, in honor of his train birthday party!

Sticker Mosaic Craft

I like how kids can do a portion of the mosaic and put it away for later – it’s an easy craft to take out for just 5-10 minutes, but pack up quickly when you have to move on!

Orb Factory craft kits are available online and in retail stores (I just saw them at Old Navy of all places!). Kits range from iPad apps for $2.99 up to larger kits for about $24.99, so there’s something for everyone!

What are your favorite (easy!) crafts for toddlers? Do you go with premade kits, or gather your own materials?

This past summer we took construction paper with us to Uruguay and made paper food — pizzas and hamburgers. Not only did E have fun, she also practiced cutting skills. (She was five at the time.)

She loves to use her imagination with paper, tape, scissors, and color pencils or crayons. I need to find some fun things that give more guidance (especially for DJM), but for the time being I love watching E create… ;)

I care for four children under the age of five & we love both craft kits and making our own crafts. I have a craft “center” set up to easily craft with them.

Amanda AlvaradoMarch 6, 2012 - 9:34 pm

Dd is happy with a coloring book and crayons or markers! LOL I’ve been trying to get her to use water paints but she’s not too interested in it (guess that’s premade?). She loves to help me cook and bake (yeah I know it’s not really a craft) too

Kris I.March 6, 2012 - 3:36 pm

I love premade kits, but also sometimes let my daughter play with glue and sequins, etc.

ErinMarch 6, 2012 - 1:48 pm

We honestly haven’t done many crafts…I need to be more creative! We stick (ha!) with stickers, crayons, or markers.

Pamela JamesMarch 6, 2012 - 10:30 am

A big roll of paper across the floor and some paint or crayons!

EileenMarch 6, 2012 - 7:37 am

I’m not good with coming up with my own crafts, so kits it is for me!

ShannonMarch 6, 2012 - 1:52 am

My toddler like to glue stuff and use stickers. I usually collect my own, but it is much easier if it premade!

debbie mMarch 5, 2012 - 11:04 pm

Lauren SimmsMarch 5, 2012 - 3:38 pm

all about kits! I just don’t have time to gather all the materials nor do I have the space to store everything. These kits are amazing. My daughter got one as a Christmas present and adores it!

Paula TavernieMarch 5, 2012 - 11:24 am

I normally do the pre made kits!

Trisha W.March 5, 2012 - 11:18 am

Sadly. I don’t do many crafts with my toddlers these days. I did like making hand print casts though.

Stephanie KlemmMarch 5, 2012 - 11:07 am

I like to use what we have on hand. Right now he likes to color, use the homemade play dough, or I just built him a big fort out of cardboard boxes :)

Nikole H.March 5, 2012 - 11:06 am

So far our crafts are all of the coloring and painting persuasion… from my stash of art supplies :) It’s time to branch out!!!

Sarah HullMarch 5, 2012 - 1:36 am

My son really likes stickers, playdough and coloring with crayons or with white board markers. I really like making crafts with my son – I’m a huge fan of Pinterest for ideas and I’m starting to make some felt boards for him!

We love making creations with playdough! My son especially loves coloring and putting stickers everywhere!

Lori BMarch 4, 2012 - 8:57 pm

My go to crafty stuff is almost always nature stuff. We’re out in the boonies bordered by a lake on one side and woods on another. Also several farms nearby. Really all we need to do find stuff to craft with is go outside….feathers, leaves, stones, sticks, etc. is the start of all the fun!

Lately macaroni art has taken over. Anything that involves glue definitely keeps my girl occupied too ;-)

I have a stash of goodies that I’ve saved from crafts through the years. A little glitter, glue and tissue paper make for endless fun and messes!

Marysa N.March 4, 2012 - 6:08 pm

We do some of our own crafts, but I try to stay away from anything that is too messy. We love stuff like stickers and coloring!

Jessi GMarch 4, 2012 - 5:56 pm

I am horrible with craft ideas! I usually get the $1 ones at target, the dollar store or walmart. My kids appreciate it either way :)

We usually make our own crafts using construction paper, stickers, popsicle sticks, googly eyes, and paint. If I do find an easy to make craft kit I definitely get it, but usually the ones I find our too hard for my toddler.

We tend to go with craft kids such as foam and clay. Thank you!

KristiMarch 4, 2012 - 11:07 am

We tend to make our own crafts. Right now the chalk board is the favorite or just stickers. I need to bust out the finger paints though now that it is nice and we can take it outside.

anne perryMarch 4, 2012 - 11:05 am

We have been using bubbles & non toxic crayons. Also corn starch & water for some sensory play.

rebecca wMarch 4, 2012 - 10:18 am

I’ve been teaching my daughter to spell her name. I write out her name and have her glue small items to it (buttons, acorns, etc)

jayedee dewittMarch 4, 2012 - 9:43 am

we love stickers, that foam ‘clay’ stuff, and pipecleaners are always a winner. most projects are homemade but i love craft kits too!

Tamara SzogediMarch 4, 2012 - 9:36 am

I love stickers! A piece of paper and some stikckers and they are happy!

Crunchy Beach MamaMarch 4, 2012 - 9:28 am

We have been really into the sidewalk chalk lately. As far as projects we do both – find supplies we already have and buy the kits. These look really great!

I’m still loving that shirt!

I haven’t tried any crafts with my grandson as he just recently turned 2. However, I would probably go with the pre-made kits because it’s probably easier.

Colleen MaurinaMarch 4, 2012 - 9:23 am

We use colorful construction paper, colored craft sticks, cotton balls and many other craft materials! Stickers are a favorite right now!

Sandy VanHoeyMarch 4, 2012 - 9:17 am

I live with my daughter and grandson and she has oodles of craft things they make. From using markers to pom pom thingy’s and soooo much

JustCoreyMarch 4, 2012 - 9:11 am

I usually precut shapes for my 2 year old for him to paste onto a page, we are at the end of the ABCs right now. I also let him cut (with help) some images that I uaually just print from the computer. I like the free printables from 1+1+1=1 and DLTKids

Vashti MMarch 3, 2012 - 9:50 pm

Homemade play dough and beads with string or pipcleaners :)

Jessica HolmesMarch 3, 2012 - 8:52 pm

I love the foam stuff! I also love the color wonder markers so they can’t write on anything but the special paper.
