Latch On 2! Lansinoh Breastfeeding Support Kit ~ Giveaway *CLOSED

It’s not just emotional support from family, friends, and society that is necessary when breastfeeding. Trust me, those days and nights when you’re alone with your baby nursing, you’ll need some real physical support.

I had seriously painful breastfeeding for over 12 weeks until I finally found my most-awesome lactation specialist (please, hunt for one if you are struggling!). During that time, I tried nearly every brand and type of product I could think of to ease the pain and make life bearable.

Lansinoh makes some great products for nursing moms. They carry a full line of breastfeeding products. Here are four typical items you’ll need while breastfeeding:

Breast Milk Storage Bags -  These bags have a double zipper seal and are the strongest bags available. The food-grade plastic is BPA free. Using storage bags is a great way to keep milk in the freezer, as it will lay flat and thaw quickly! These are not the kind that hang off the flange of your pump, but you could still pump into them if you hold the bag yourself. (ARV $4.99).

Disposable Nursing Pads - I didn’t know about cloth nursing pads when I started out (hey, I was barely into cloth diapers at the time), so I went through a couple boxes of these types of nursing pads. They work fantastically to absorb milk leakage. I see they have a new design in the contouring, and TWO adhesive strips – I think that is important to prefent shifting and friction. (ARV $10.89 per 60-pack)

HPA Lanolin - As it turns out, I had some kind of reaction to lanolin, so I had to use a non-lanolin soothing balm. But for the rest of you, lanolin is fantastic for soothing and healing crack, dry, sore nipples. It is the only topical nipple cream endorsed in the US by La Leche League International - wow, that is saying something, right? Made from the world’s purest lanolin, you do not have to remove this balm prior to breastfeeding. (ARV $9.45).

Soothies Gel Pads - Yes, that’s right – this brand has been acquired by Lansinoh, and they continue to make the same great  moist wound healing environment to soothe and protect sore nipples. I used these a LOT the first few weeks. Benefits – not only is this a non-messy way to get relief, but they also protect you from bra friction! These pads will absorb leaking breastmilk up to a point, and they can even be cut to size! You do need to gently clean residue prior to breastfeeding. My only regret is that since they only last about 72 hours, it can get a bit expensive! (ARV $9.60)

Buy it: Find out more about Lansinoh products at their website, Facebook, and Twitter. Their site has tons of information for breastfeeding moms, including how to select your own pump – very helpful!

CONGRATS to Kim for winning this wonderful package!

Boppies worked great for me, even with twins! I’d love to win this for my soon to be nurser :)

  • susan smoaks says:

if i won, i would give these to my sister, lansinoh is a brand that i trust

  • Karen Gonyea says:

    I had to have a boppy :)

  • RaettigFamily says:

I’ll be having my third child in 9 weeks or less. I tried nursing with my 14 month old twins and they never learned to latch on properly so I pumped for the first four months. I am going to try nursing with this baby and I pray that it goes smoothly

  • Jenny Moses says:

I am almost 4 months pregnant and would love to have the best products to help me begin breastfeeding.

  • Ashley Hess says:

I am currently expecting due December 8th, 2011. I only breastfed my son for 2 weeks due to me getting ill and having to take medication that was not able to allow me to breastfeed. He has excema, allergies, food and animal allergies so when I got pregnant with my daughter I wanted to breastfed so much longer. I breastfed her for five months. I had to go back to work when she was 4.5 months old and she did not do well with mommy being gone, and I tried pumping and wasn’t keeping up with my flow so truthfully I gave up and let them dry up. This time I am planning to extending breastfeeding until baby wants to wean. I had very painful, bleeding nipples in the beginning each time and I have to say that Lansinoh nipple cream is THE BEST ever for cracked and sore nipples. I swear by it. I would LOVE to win some in preparation for my third adventure to breastfeed. Thank you very much for this opportunity and giveaway.

  • When I was breastfeeding I used these nursing pads-the Johnson’s ones were too thin. I also used the Lanolin cream when I had sores from nursing. The cooling pads I also used (gotta love Lansinoh) which were a huge relief. :) If I won-I would keep all of this, because we’re hoping to have a baby in a year or so and would like to be fully prepared before we start trying, due to financial hardship.

  • Tiffiny says:

I will be nursing in less that a week, my baby should be arriving soon!! So excited! I would totally use the products for myself. I really like the pads to catch unwanted leakage! 3tiff3@gmail.com

  • Heather B says:

Baby #3 will be here in October, and I am hoping maybe the 3rd time will be the charm with breastfeeding!

  • Tonya M says:

I used the Lansinoh soothing pads w/ my 1st child who is 4 now. Those things were a liffe saver for me. I had a really hard time in BF and it only lasted for about 6-8wks. I’m due in Nov. and really hoping & praying that I can BF for longer this time.

  • Kirsten Gee says:

Used lansinoh products while breast-feeding both my kids – especially the lanolin cream and love the milk storage bags as well. Since I just weaned my youngest daughter I would give these to my sister who is due in a couple of months

  • Vanessa says:

I follow via GFC as momlovesdeals. momlovesdeals at gmail dot com

  • Vanessa says:

I’m due in 4 weeks and am a little nervous to breastfeed again. It hasn’t gone well with my last two kids but I’m still going to try this time. I loved lanolin and used it for everything! momlovesdeals at gmail dot com

  • Mrs. Smitty says:

I would love love love to try the soothing pads! And Lanolin is actually great for eczema, so myself, my toddler and my infant would benefit from it!

  • April Lamm says:

I had major issues with blocked ducts and developed mastitis. A lacation consultant mentioned I should buy some lethicin tablets from the natural food store. They were a godsend no more blocked ducts or mastistis~~~ I highly suggest them.

  • Kate says:

I’m all about trying any product that will make breastfeeding easier/go more smoothly! I’ve heard excllent things about this brand, particularly their soothing gel pads!

  • Tara says:

I love the Lansinoh milk storage bags! I haven’t tried the other Lansinoh products, but would love to try them with baby #2.

  • Ames says:

The soothies are great – I cut them in thirds and they last longer that way :)

  • Rebecca T. says:

I have read good reviews about Lanisoh products and have done my research. Since I will be a first time mom come november, I dont know from experience about breastfeeding. The advice I have heard though is to stick with it, that it will eventually get easier!

  • Leslie says:

I loved the Lansinoh products I used when I BF my DD. We BF for 15 months. I tried to wean her at a year, but she got mad and would hit me and tell me no :) Hope things go as well as they did before with my second baby that is due in Dec.

  • Kristi-Lynn GIbson says:

I used every one of the products above while I was breastfeeding with my first, with the exception of the Soothies, which sound heavenly. I due with my second in 3 months and could definitely use all of the above to start out my stash of breastfeeding products. Love love love Lansinoh!

  • Sarah Hull says:

I can go through Disposable Nursing Pads like they’e going out of style! They’re so helpful at night! Although it’s nice to hear that they have a second row of stickies…because mine shifted around a lot at night! Haha…luckily my son wasn’t one to point and laugh! ;) I also had the chance to use a few of the Breast Milk Storage Bags…they are so handy to have! I only had a few samples, but they made storage so convenient! I really loved using them.

  • Genevieve says:

I was very blessed to not have issues breastfeeding, so I haven’t had to use a couple of these items. I did have one BAD bite a few weeks ago, and opened up the lanolin for the first time since my daughter was born over a year ago. I’d love to win this for my friend, who is due with her first baby any day! She wants to BF, but I can tell she’s of the mindset “I’ll try it but it might not work for me”…maybe good resources like this would help encourage her to persevere!

  • Kellie Estep says:

Second baby on the way! I always used Lansinoh accessories with my first son and would feel so prepared for my second baby with this ! I think it’s extremely important to breast feed so I’m going to be as dedicated as I was with my first son :) love the bonding!

  • Jen Breedlove says:

One of my best friends is pregnant with her first, and I would love to give this to her.
(Side note: I have a Medela pump, but I MUCH prefer the Lansinoh milk storage bags…the Medela ones that are made to go with my pump drive me crazy! They don’t have a double zipper, for one thing!!)

  • Jessica says:

I would love to win this!!! I am preggo with baby number 2 and really struggled with nursing the first time around. I am determined to try again. These products would definitely help out!

  • Dee says:

This would be awesome! I am pregnant with #3 and had a hard time at first with my other two. I wish more than anything I would have tried those soothies pads-I feel like I will be able to put those to good use in a few months! :)

  • Rosa says:

I absolutely love and use these products! I go through them quite a bit. I have an almost 2 month old boy whom I am breastfeeding. Why they don’t tell expecting mothers that breastfeeding is difficult is beyond me. But even though I’ve been struggling with low milk supply I’ve kept at it and plan to for as long as possible. I’ve tried every possible thing out there and am happy to say that although I still have to supplement with formula, I now supplement 50% less than what I had to when I had just begun to breastfeed him. It’s tough and I spend 90% of my day focused on breastfeeding and keeping up supply but I know that breast is best.

  • This would be great for my daughter whose breastfeeding her first baby.
    jackieque@comcast.net

  • Ashley says:

I would love to pass these along to a dear friend who is expecting her first in September. My fav products were the lansinoh freezer bags, medela and lansinoh cream (I liked them both for different reasons), and the medela shields.

    demureprincess7(at)gmail(dot)com

  • Jenny Hull says:

I didn’t know about cloth breast pads either! I went through a ton of the disposable ones and lansinoh’s were my favorite. I needed to use them for about 6 months before I stopped leaking everywhere! I also really liked the gel pad things. I used them a couple times in the beginning when I was really sore from my son being tongue tied. We’re at 13 months now and still going!

  • dasha says:

im pregnant again so these would totally come in handy (except for the lanolin which i would give to my friend since i’m allergic too!! :-( )

  • Aisha says:

I was breastfeeding my son for the 1st time and my nipples were super sore. HPA
lanolin helped me feel better so much that’s why I love this product. Now that I’m having another one, I could definitely use it again.

  • DebbieKL says:

Great giveaway package! I am currently nursing 4 month old twins. I love the lansinoh products! The other heavily used things are my nursing pillow and pump!

  • Stacie R says:

I love their storage bags! As an EBF, delayed solids, full time work away from home mama of a 13 month old & now one on the way (yikes!) I cannot get enough, & they get expensive! I go thru a pack of 50 in 2-3 weeks. I’ve never tried the gel pads which sound heavenly, especially considering nipple/breast pain while nursing thru pregnancy…

  • Ellen says:

I think the milk storage bags are fantastic. I can keep small amounts fresh and they defrost easily. Perfect for mixing with cereal especially when I am on the go!

  • Kristi Blackstone says:

Disposable nursing pads are a must for post-partum! I couldn’t of lived without them while breastfeeding my last son. I’m due this October with my 3rd son and will def. be breastfeeding him also! Thanks for the chance to win!

  • Vee says:

This would be great for my cousin to encourage her to breastfeed (she is interested)

    sswpss at yahoo dot com

  • Anne Perry says:

I used the storage bags to freeze my milk… still have the milk. I used disposable nursing pads at first, but I do like the reusable ones much better. My sister is expecting. I would pass this along to her.

  • Kendra says:

I used their Lanolin cream with my 1st baby. It worked great! I will be using it again with my second baby due in 6 weeks.

  • Aimee E. says:

I use their storage bags, and I’m please with how easy they are to use. I also like that they’re bigger than the Medelas. I also need to give credit to my Boppy; it makes the whole experience a lot more comfortable.

  • Alissa Degreenia says:

I loved the duo electric pump for my first child. The nipple cream and the storage bags. Second child is currently on the way!

  • Nikole H. says:

I struggled early on with my daughter and really suffered because of it. The first 6-9 months I spent trying to heal from damage that kept building. I was able to improve on our latch, but damage was already done, so healing was limited. I also had vaso-spams, which was not fun. The gel pads were one of the few things that would offer some relief. I alternated between the gel pads, lanolin, and a triple ointment cream to promote healing. I hope the second time around I am able to apply things I’ve learned and avoid this all together! My lactation consultant was amazing — and a must for any nursing mother! ngiraldi at gmail dot com

  • Laura L. says:

I am pregnant with my first child, so if I won these products would be put to good use by me. I definitely intend to breastfeed exclusively for as long as possible, but I have enough friends and family members who have tried to breastfeed to know that it certainly isn’t always easy. That’s why I would love to win this set of Lansinoh breastfeeding products. Anything I can do to make breastfeeding easier will be a lifesaver. Plus, as a first time mom I don’t really have anything collected yet (Eek! I need to get going)

  • tubbytelly says:

I didn’t have too much issues with cracking but I did get some blisters early on when we had some issues coordinating mouth and nipple. My baby was big and hungry :) It turns out I used Lansinoh Lanolin, the bottle looked different from this one pictured though. I got it from a nurse in the hospital because baby’s lips were unusually dry and crusty, probably caused by our issue as mentioned above. I thought it was a free sample, a tiny little tube. But I had to pay for it! I could have bought a full-sized one for a little more dollars but I guess you live and learn. Also, I don’t think I used it too often so it was just as well I only got the tiny tube.

  • Trisha Gorman says:

I never actually froze my milk so I didnt ever have to deal with the bags but with my first the pads and cream were LIFESAVERS for me. I would fill up so much over night I would wake up with a SOAKED pad but dry sheets thank god. And I will definatly be using them agian as Im pregnant with number 2 now.

  • Hannah Avery says:

I really loved my Boppy pillow while nursing! I had a really hard time starting nursing, and I found a Nipple Shield to be invaluable!

  • Ashleigh says:

I was able to nurse my daughter just short of 6 months before I stopped producing milk. During those months, I loved breastfeeding. I did get 2 breast infections that made it extremely painful to continue nursing but Lansinoh products helped a lot, especially the Lanolin. My next child is due in 4 months and I’m planning on nursing again and hoping to reach a full year this time!

  • Kerry says:

I’ve actually used all of these products before and they are fabulous! I also have the Lansinoh Double Electric Breast Pump and it worked great with my first child. And those soothie pads were heaven for cracked and sore nipples.

  • Amanda Alvarado says:

With ds, I didn’t use anything. I don’t remember having sore nipples or anything either. DD was another story. I had to use lanolin during the 2 week because my nipples HURT! Never used nursing pads because I’ve never leaked (other than when my milk came in after losing our last dd). I am hoping that ds’s girlfriend breastfeeds so these will go to her. If she decides not to, my sister will be attempting to nurse twins when she delivers so I would give them to her!

  • Stephanie says:

I used Lansinoh Lanolin liberally in the early weeks of breastfeeding. I also really love Lansinoh’s Ultra-Soft Disposable Nursing Pads.

  • JLJMommy says:

Love Lansinoh Lanolin especially those first few weeks of breastfeeding while my body was getting used to the whole nursing thing. Now I use the leftovers to lanolize my wool diaper covers. I used several boxes of their milk storage bags with my last baby. Some for use when I was away but mostly for storage of extra milk that I donated to help premature infants. Great quality products! Thanks for the wonderful giveaway!

  • I loved my double electric pump while I was nursing. I was a full time worker and college student and it helped me so I could continue nursing until 14 months old, which I wish I could have done longer! I loved lansinoh products, they’re great quality and price. I do wish there were less plastic options, and less disposable options, I hate storing my milk in plastic, much rather store in glass, and have toxin free wipes.

  • ashley wheeler says:

I would love to win this for myself because I am having a baby in 7 weeks and I am planning on breastfeeding. I tried to breastfeed with my first child but I had problems getting her to latch on and I received no help from the “experts” at the hospital so I just switched to formula. This time I am dedicated to breastfeeding but I have no clue what products are good. One problem we are having this time around is money – our maternity insurance was cancelled halfway through my pregnancy so we now have to pay for everything up front- so I can’t afford to spend money on a bunch of different products to try.

  • Michelle Ferguson says:

I am due in November and I breastfed our first son. The nursing pads and the lanolin was a must have for me the first time around! I’ve never tried the gel pads but I would love to try them this time around! I only lasted 4.5 months breastfeeding my son and I’d really like to last a lot longer this time around so hopefully I can win! :)

  • Kendra says:

This is a great kit! The Soothies Gel Pads are AMAZING and definitely a necessity for a new to breastfeeding momma as is the lanolin. I also found the Lansinoh bags to be the best out there. Whoever wins this kit is a very lucky lady!

  • Kim Bryant says:

I am due in October and plan to breastfeed this little boy as long as possible. I have used the soothies gel breast pads in the past and they were amazing in those first weeks when you are tender and leaking constantly. Lansinoh is one of my favorite companies for breastfeeding products. I am never without my lansinoh lanolin in the beginning. Every little bit does help. I think what people don’t understand is that there will be some discomfort with the start of breast feeding. Not toe curling pain. (wrong latch and going to get sore cracked nipples) Lansinoh has always been there to the rescue for me with all my children so far and I plan to use it again with this baby as well.

  • Carrie Phelps says:

I would love to gift this to my daughter whom is due with my first granddaughter in October. She’s a breast feeding Mama so she would REALLY appreciate this. thanks! I did tweet this as well.
    carriedust@yahoo.com

  • Bridgett Zaidi says:

my fave BF products are the lansinoh lanolin cream. I had some “damage” from my first weeks of BF and the lanolin creams helped heal everything very quickly.

  • Mechele Johnson says:

I have 5 children. With the first 4, I went back to work. I wanted sooooo bad to make breastfeeding work. It would work for the first few months, then I would go back to work and pump, which always ended up in fizzling out. It just wasn’t the same. Now, with my 5th, I am staying home and breastfeeding. She is 9 months old today, and I am still nursing. It has gone smoothly and has been one of the most rewarding things I have ever done for my baby and myself. As for Lansinoh, I couldn’t have made it without it those first 6 weeks, and beyond. Nothing works better, especially at first when your nipples are adjusting and especially sore and sensitive. Now, with baby getting a few teeth, Lansinoh is a God send. I love it! I haven’t tried the Gel Pads, but I imagine they are awesome.
    mmjohnson555@gmail.com

  • Jessica says:

I’m currently pregnant with our first, so I don’t have any personal experience with breastfeeding products yet, but the Soothies Gel Pads sound really great. I’m really looking forward to the bonding experience with my baby, but I’m also very worried it is going to hurt (I’m a wimp:(). These sound like they would make the adjustment period a little easier.

  • Kari R. says:

I love Lansinoh. I tried every brand of breast pads and Lansinoh’s were the only ones to work for me. I now give them as a gift to all of my Mommy friends when they have their babies!

  • Aura says:

I loved lansinoh products so much (we used every product mentioned above) that we sent them a thank you letter and they even sent us a package of goodies for free! They made breastfeeding so much easier!

  • Sarah says:

I actually just wrote a post about breastfeeding products on my blog. I LOVED Motherlove Nipple Cream. It was a life saver for me. I also can not do without my pumpease bra and bamboobies.

  • Katrina says:

I breastfed my first for 15 months and now I am planning to breastfeed my next daughter for even longer. I am researching products and all kinds of goodies to get this go around. Love there products!

  • Danielle says:

I loved lasinoh products with my first child. Their bags were superior to all that were on the market and I always recommend them to my friends and family. I have yet to try their soothies gel pads. They sound fabulous!

  • Lindsey says:

This would greatly help me in a few months. I used my Lansinoh lanolin tube religiously when I was breastfeeding Sophia. I’m hoping to be successful in breastfeeding baby #2 for an even longer time!

  • Meredith Small says:

I saw this giveaway and every little bit helps!!! My baby girl is due in 10 days and I plan on breastfeeding her just like I did my son. With my son I had a problem with inverted nipples and Lansinoh makes a thing called the latch assist it worked wonders for me! I have purchased other Lansinoh products in the past and they are great. I can’t wait for my precious little one to get here. Talking about this makes it so much more real that she will be here very shortly.
